SONGS OF THE QUARTER

Love Of God
CCLI # 7241154
Benjamin Hastings, Brandon Lake, Cody Carnes, and Phil Wickham

This song "Love of God" draws from old hymns and the timely reminders of some lesser-known texts in the Bible. Referencing Romans 2:4 explaining how the kindness of God leads us to repentance. Or the prophecy fulfilled from Isaiah 9:2, ""The people who walk in darkness will see a great light. For those who live in a land of deep darkness, a light will shine."

The songwriters also draw inspiration from George Benard's 1913 hymn, "The Old Rugged Cross" which features in the chorus of the song.

There are many things that we pursue in life that is temporal or fleeting, but the love of God remains. The most central theme of this song is that nothing can separate us from God's love. As we move into 2025, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow, can separate us from the reality of God's love that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.

He Who Is To Come
CCLI # 7228694
Cody Carnes, Kristian Stanfill, and Sean Curran

"He Who Is To Come" by Passion, featuring Kristian Stanfill and Cody Carnes, is a worship song that encapsulates the anticipation and hope of the Christian faith regarding the second coming of Jesus Christ.

The lyrics paint a vivid picture of a future day when all wrongs will be set right, darkness will vanish, and Jesus, described as the Son of Man, will return in glory. The chorus speaks directly to this event, visualising Christ riding on the clouds with a crown upon His head, a scene inspired by Revelation 1:7.

This imagery serves as a reminder of the ultimate victory of good over evil, the promise of redemption, and the establishment of God's eternal kingdom.

In essence, "He Who Is To Come" is not just a song of future hope but a call to live today with that hope in mind inspiring our lived out faith journeys, until He comes again.
