SYNOPSIS:
Being woke or attentive to social justice is one of the key buzzwords of our time. Yet, social justice expressed in social media and activism often contributes to divisions, disengagement, and disinformation. In this course we consider how Christians can be a living testimony of God’s truth and grace in a fractured world by:
Dr Suzanne Choo is an Associate Professor at the National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. She holds a Master of Arts in Theology and Integrative Studies from the Biblical Graduate School of Theology (BGST) and a PhD in English Education from Columbia University, USA. Her research interests are in the areas of ethics in relation to culture. Her latest Christian book is When Woke Goes Broke: Redeeming Social Justice for the Church (GraceWorks, 2024). Dr Choo worships at Adam Road Presbyterian Church.
