SYNOPSIS:
Being woke or attentive to social justice is one of the key buzzwords of our time. Yet, social justice expressed in social media and activism often contributes to divisions, disengagement, and disinformation. In this course we consider how Christians can be a living testimony of God’s truth and grace in a fractured world by:

  • Examining contemporary social justice movements related to issues such as race, gender, and class
  • Unpacking philosophical underpinnings to discern worldviews such as postmodernism that direct these movements
  • Returning to scripture and God’s call for Christians to act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with him
  • Seeking to understand social justice from a biblical perspective and how this may differ from secular social justice
